The Sustainable Arts Foundation is awarding twenty writers and artists for their excellence in their fields. Awards of $5,000 will be given to writers and artists who are also parents – an acknowledgment of the challenge of developing creative work while raising a family. These are awards, not grants, and awardees can use the $5,000 any way they choose.
Writers may apply in one of the following categories:
- Creative Nonfiction
- Early and Middle Grade Fiction
- Graphic Novel
- Long Form Journalism
- Picture Books
- Young Adult Fiction
The foundation does not accept portfolios of self-help books, motivational writing, travel and/or other kinds of guidebooks.
Visual artists may apply in one of the following categories:
- Book Arts
- Fiber Arts and Textiles
- Mixed Media
The foundation is currently not accepting applications in the performing arts, film/video/tv (including screenplays), music, jewelry, pottery, and other crafts.
