Research Mentoring Experience:

Supervising  students on their research projects since Fall 1996 on various problems in Biophysics and Solid State Physics.  Students present the results from these projects in different meetings: (1) MIE Science Day at Spelman College, (2) Georgia Academy of Sciences, (3) American Chemical Society (ACS), (4) American Physical Society (APS),  (5) National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP), and (6) National Council of Undergraduate Research (NCUR), and (7) Optical Society of the SouthEast.

Current and Active Proposals:

(a)    PI of the Spelman part of the project funded to Clark Atlanta University (CAU), Atlanta by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on “Coalition for Research and Education Enhancement in Materials (CREEM)”.  The project at Spelman College titled “Spectroscopic Characterization of Metal Graphene Interfaces”.  This funding runs from Sept. 2010 to Aug. 2015.  ($250,000).

(b)   Co-PI of the Department of Energy (DOE) Massie Grant funded to Physics Department.  My part of project is titled “Study of Biomolecules by EPR Spectroscopy”and runs from Sept. 2009 to Aug. 2013 ($200,000).

Synergistic activities:

(1)   Several undergraduate students’  presentations and four refereed publications.   (2)  Developed Magnetic Resonance and Mössbauer Spectroscopic Advanced lab exercises for Physics majors (PHYS 362).  (3) Developed X-ray diffraction project for Advanced Lab II for Physics majors (PHYS 462).   (4)  Participated in the development of two modules (a) Materials and (b) Light and Color for the Interdisciplinary Course (IDS 101) and served as coordinator of the course for the AY 20001-2002.   (5)  Developed computer assisted Chemistry experiments for General  Chemistry (111 and 112) using LoggerPro software and the laboratory manuals in collobaration with Dr. Bhatia at Morehouse College.  (6) Member of the Advisory Board for the NASA funded curriculum development project of Atlanta Metropolitan College,  Atlanta (2006- 07).  (7)  Member of the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Physics course Reader and Syllabus Reviewer  (8) A panel member at NSF in 2009-2013 for Instrumentation Grant.
