The NIH BD2K Training Coordinating Center (TCC) is now accepting applications for their 2017 Innovation Lab: Quantitative Approaches to Biomedical Data Science Challenges in our Understanding of the Microbiome. The intensive five-day residential workshop focuses on the formation of new interdisciplinary collaborations among quantitative and biomedical researchers to address data science challenges in the understanding of the microbiome. Prior knowledge of research in this area is not required. Instead, this is a workshop for early-career biomedical and quantitative investigators who are willing to engage in collaborative multidisciplinary research. Participants form teams during the workshop and receive mentoring from professional facilitators and senior scientists to develop interdisciplinary projects to solve a data science challenge related to a biomedical research problem involving the microbiome.
The lab will also provide opportunities to interact with NIH and NSF program officers and learn about relevant funding mechanisms.
