The Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) has awarded $447,078 to the Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center (AUC), in collaboration with Spelman College, Morehouse College and Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. The Spelman Archives have been awarded a $5,884 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a conservator to perform a preservation assessment for Spelman’s Archival Collections. The Spelman Archives were officially established in 1981 by Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall, as part of the Women’s Research and Resource Center. The project is under direction of the College Archivist, Holly A. Smith and Archives Assistant Kassandra Ware.
