Bio and CV

Jessica in TorontoBorn and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Jessica Scott-Felder has been drawing on the walls of her home since the age of two. After winning several statewide contests, such as the Georgia Dogwood Festival, she decided to pursue a career as an artist promptly after high school.

Jessica attended Spelman College where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art with a concentration in Art Education. She began a body of work featuring life-sized charcoal drawings of her sisters while completing her bachelor’s degree. These works have since been featured in the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery and the Spruill Art Gallery.

Jessica completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking at Georgia State University in 2009. In addition to continuing to draw in a larger-than-life format, she has also studied experimental drawing and cyanotype printmaking at the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Italy.

Jessica has work featured in corporate collections in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Recent exhibitions include the A.I.R. Gallery in New York and a solo installation exhibition at the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA.

With a concentration in Art Education from her undergraduate studies, Jessica Scott-Felder began her teaching career while pursing her Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Drawing Painting and Printmaking at Georgia State University. She sharpened her teaching skills by taking additional courses such as pedagogy, assessment, and educational technology. Jessica was hired to work full-time as visiting lecturer at her Georgia State after completion of her master’s degree.

Jessica’s collegiate educating experience includes three years teaching Life Drawing, Drawing Foundations, Drawing Research, Directed Studies of Drawing and Painting, Introduction to Studio, Color Theory and Two-Dimensional Design in addition to working four years as a professional graphic designer. Currently, Jessica is Lecturer of Two-Dimensional Design at Georgia State University and Drawing and Senior Portfolio at Spelman College.
